Senior caregivers assisting seniors who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, now are required to be trained on certain topics within 60 days of working in their new positions in the state of Illinois. The new caregiver training mandate for professional caregivers working for licensed senior home care agencies in Illinois, includes the following requirements for new caregivers, supervisors, and for annual renewal training.

Governor Rauner signed the legislation and the state’s regulation office for writing the implementation requirements for new laws, just issued the new training mandate this summer which requires companies to begin following the memory loss training guidelines for caregivers as of June 2, 2019.
